Cynthia Rowley Fall 2020 NYFW Runway

Cynthia Rowley’s Fall 2020 New York Fashion Week runway was as spirited as ever. From colorful, transparent silhouettes to animated flower patterns to bunny prints, the garments encouraged attendees to indulge in the unexpected.

Rowley strives to add a creative touch to each presentation she puts on—this year, a spirited environment was established by models in disguise, who sat scattered in the audience and shockingly transformed into their runway looks as the show progressed. Each model walked with their own personal demeanor, with turns and smiles to the audience making the show all the more engaging.

The collection is composed of a variety of transparent pieces that fluttered as the models walked, produced in sizzling hot pink, mystical teal, sheer black, or lush tan. Indeed, many of the ensembles fit loosely, establishing a sense of movement that allowed the clothing to dance, not walk down the runway. Color-blocking was also prominent, as evident in maxi dresses, jumpsuits, and sweatshirts.

A matching black puffer ensemble patterned with bunnies stole the show, adding a touch of playfulness to the collection that had guests immediately intrigued. Equally notable was a pure gold trench coat, paired with a simple light pink knit sweater underneath.

As for Rowley’s accessory choices, sunglasses were shown in a multitude of colors and styles, from a lilac square to a pale pink cat-eye pair. A variety of shoes were presented as well, including bright pumps, ribbon-laced booties, snakeskin platforms, and multicolored sneakers. One look was accented by a chunky gold heart necklace, an artistic touch that was complemented by a classic black hair bow.

Cynthia Rowley’s runway was not a traditional event, rather a creative revelation. Both the method of presentation and the eccentric collection itself had attendees on the edge of their seats throughout, establishing a universal experience unlike any NYFW catwalk.
