Beware of the Jump Scare: Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights

Discover a world of terror at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, what the theme park considers “the most intense, spine-tingling event.” Complete with new mazes and a nostalgic 80s theme, this attraction is sure to be at the top of your list this fall season.

Halloween Horror Nights began at Universal Studios Florida in 1991 under the original name “Fright Nights,” and once it gained popularity, it spread to the park in California in 1997. The studio is one of the original birthplaces for the horror genre, and the park prides itself on creating an authentic and realistic haunted house experience. Indeed, Universal Studios’ attention to detail and fear factor has made it a tradition and ritual for many park attendees.

As Universal Studios enters its fourteenth year as California’s staple Halloween attraction, it now features ten mazes, five scare zones, and a live show. The new mazes at the event this year follow an 80s theme, including attractions inspired by the classic 1984 cult classic, Ghostbusters, and the 1982 fantasy film written by horror legend Stephen King, Creepshow. Another new addition, Jordan Peele’s Us, recounts the story of the new 2019 film, which revolves around two doppelgangers who seek revenge. Returning to HHN are the popular, Stranger Things, Holidayz in Hell, Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, House of 1000 Corpses, The Curse of Pandora’s Box, and The Walking Dead attractions.

The five scare zones, situated in between the mazes, are another notable aspect of Halloween Horror Nights. These scare zones include “Fallen Angelz,” filled with ghouls and watched over by the Angel of Death; “ToXXXic Tunnel,” run by members of a demonic car club; “Christmas in Hell,” an extension of the Holidayz in Hell maze; and “All Hallow’s Evil,” led by souls who return from the dead.  The Horror Nights event also features a live show led by hip-hop dance group Jabbawockeez.

Halloween Horror Nights is featured at Universal Studios in Southern California, Orlando, Japan, and Singapore. Each event features slightly different yet equally haunting attractions to scare attendees worldwide. No matter the location, the hauntingly fang-tastic event is sure to be a hit with everyone this Halloween season.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood runs through November 3rd, and tickets are available for purchase at www.halloweenhorrornights.com
