Target’s Designer Dress Collection Delivers High-End, Affordable Summer Pieces
Searching for the perfect summer frock? Target recently partnered with female-led fashion brands LoveShackFancy, Cushnie and Lisa Marie Fernandez on a Designer Dress Collection, sold at prices significantly less than their traditional high-end wares. The line features over 70 affordable dresses that range in color, pattern and design, available in sizes XXS-3X.
Amid the chaos of the coronavirus pandemic, the collection seeks to restore a sense of joy that one experiences when shopping for a dress, even though the circumstances have shifted to online-only. “When we started working with these three designers, our collective hope with the Designer Dress Collection was, and still is, to evoke a sense of joy and confidence that comes with finding the perfect dress—especially as we hope for brighter days ahead,” explained Jill Sandro—Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer of Target—in a press statement. Although summer festivities may be at a halt, dressing up indoors (or at a socially distant outdoor area) can instill a sense of liveliness and purpose in what may seem like monotonous days—and inspire you to stow away your sweats at last.
Cushnie's signature figure-hugging silhouettes are highlighted throughout the collection, particularly in bold, neon hues. A magenta and red color-blocked slip dress is a standout, featuring an asymmetrical midi length with a seductive side slit. The look is balanced out with classic spaghetti straps and a V-cut back, as well as an elegantly-draped neckline.
LoveShackFancy’s pieces exude feminine glamour as well. An off-the-shoulder, coral smocked dress by the designer is perfect for an afternoon picnic: short puff sleeves and a tiered ruffled skirt add just the right amount of flair, while the smocked bodice flatters all shapes and sizes.
Lisa Marie Fernandez’s line, on the other hand, exudes a bohemian aura, featuring pieces ideal for an island getaway. A white blouson shirtdress is a simple yet timeless garment: its collared neckline and button front are polished and chic, with ric rac cutouts at the sleeve cuffs and hem providing a modern upgrade.
