Dr. Martens x Hello Kitty's Nostalgic Anniversary Collection
The fashion industry has brought about an unexpected partnership this past month--and we’re all here for it. In honor of their respective 60th anniversaries, edgy footwear phenomenon Dr. Martens collaborated with Japanese pop culture icon Hello Kitty on a capsule collection, featuring bold boots and sandals to accent spring ensembles.
The new line melds Dr. Martens’ signature grunge with Hello Kitty’s feminine aura, nonetheless capturing the spirit of each brand in honor of their shared birthday. “A decade ago, we teamed up with Sanrio for a joint birthday celebration/collaboration. Sanrio was celebrating 50 years of alternative Harajuku attitude, while we marked 50 years of the 1460 boot,” Dr. Martens explained in a statement. “Ten years on, and naturally, we both have new anniversaries to celebrate. The two brands are overdue for a reunion.”
The collection features Dr. Martens’ signature Jaden Boot, Jaden 1461, and animal-friendly sandal, adorned with Hello Kitty icons, nickel heart eyelets, or red bows. Large platform soles and colored laces complete the look, as well as two pairs of cotton blend socks. For younger customers eager to shop the collection, the classic 1460 boot is available as well, sold in junior, infant, toddler, and youth sizes.
