Bloomingdale's Shoe Nirvana!

Shoe lovers rejoice! Bloomingdale’s 59th Street Flagship in NYC has redesigned its fifth-floor shoe department into an absolute dream. The name of the new, 27,000 square-foot space is called “The Heart of Shoe York,”and features a mix of new and existing shoe brands that will leave you ravenous to shop. The department combines the Contemporary and Designer shoe floors into a space that incorporates a wide range of price points. Since when can you buy a $28 pair of Havaianas flip-flops and a $3,000 Chanel heels in the same room?! This see-saw-like approach to shopping at either a high or low cost is truly revolutionary.

Not to mention, the reimagined shoe floor goes a step further with its “100% Bloomingdale’s Exclusives for 59th Street” program, which highlights 34 shoes that can only be purchased in the new space. Designers like Jimmy Choo and Kate Spade drew inspiration from the legendary department store’s NYC heritage in order to design pieces that will leave customers absolutely enraptured.

The space also cleverly designated an area for one of the most popular fashion trends of the moment: athleisure. Sneakers are featured on mannequins that are placed on stationary bikes in order to catch customers attention--mission accomplished! Fun shoelaces, lace locks, shoe-cleaning wipes, travel kits, and even fitbits are sold as well! In the future, Bloomingdale’s also plans on hosting events with artists doing live painting on sneakers so that you can customize your new pair...count me in!

Good news: the shoe department also has plenty of Instagrammable opportunities. First off, there is a giant selfie mirror with flashing words and a backward stenciled #BLOOMIES59 hashtag that appears forward in the mirror. There are also giant shoes placed throughout the entire store in order to drive traffic towards the new space. Artists created absolute masterpieces: graffiti-covered pumps, floral heels, sneakers decorated with adhesive neon dots, and more!

The store arranges monthly panel discussions called “In Her Shoes” where influencers talk about trending fashion topics. Bloomies additionally organizes special appearances where designers come in to greet customers. Some of the past celebs include Brian AtwoodMark Badgley, and Sarah Jessica Parker

If you are a shoe enthusiast, or even if you just want to temporarily escape to style heaven, I highly recommend visiting Bloomingdale’s “The Heart of Shoe York.” If it’s good enough for Carrie Bradshaw, I guarantee that it’s the perfect shopping destination for you.
