Hawwaa Ibrahim: Paving a Runway Towards Success

From the moment I saw 18-year-old Hawwaa Ibrahim’s vibrant designs on Project Runway Junior, I was amazed. Her bold design aesthetic is very similar to what I am trying to achieve in the clothing that I wear; her clothes are unapologetic and uplifting. Not to mention, Ibrahim writes a fabulous blog about all things fashion (my blog launch bash is even featured on it!). All of these factors contribute to my decision to make Ibrahim my featured blogger of the week. When you take a look at her super stylish hijab (she rarely takes it off) and glittery eyebrows, she’ll become your newest obsession. Check out our conversation about all things beauty, style, and get an inside look at this future high-fashion designer’s favorite new trend…

When did you start your blog and why did you decide to start it?

I started my blog back in January of 2014 in order to share my thoughts about fashion and the DIYs I used to do.

What kind of message are you trying to convey to your blog’s subscribers?

I’m trying to push creativity and originality to my viewers along with a realization that sometimes life doesn't always go your way, but you have to persevere and eventually good things will come.

How you would describe your own personal style?

My personal style is inspired by the 1950s, but in order to add my own flare to it, I spice it us with bright colors and whimsical patterns.

What is a current style staple piece or trend that people should embrace?

No eyebrows! I made the decision to shave my eyebrows off back in September 2017, and, for me personally, it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I just think people who step out of their comfort zone and try do things. Embrace your weirdness.

What is your favorite beauty product that you would recommend?

Maybelline FIT ME! Matte + Poreless Foundation. I’ve been using the shade “Coconut” for the past 2 years and it never seems to fail me.

What are your future plans for your blog?

My future plans are to be more open with my personal life and to try to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to talking about social issues. I would also love to feature more artists and lookbooks on my blog for the new year!
